Driving Instructors in Christchurch

Our driving instructors in Christchurch are fully qualified, patient and experienced with learners of all ages and abilities, including students with learning needs. Every instructor at Enhanced Driving School holds a current 'I' endorsement and has been trained to teach to the New Zealand Class 1 syllabus.

What makes a good driving instructor

A good driving instructor in Christchurch needs more than driving experience. They need to be able to explain things in different ways depending on the learner, stay calm when things go wrong, and give honest feedback without crushing confidence.

Our instructors are chosen for their patience and communication first, and their technical skill second. The technical skill is non-negotiable, but it's the temperament that decides whether a learner comes back for the next lesson.

Meet Harry

Vehicle: Automatic 2020 Suzuki Vitara JLX
Languages: English
Specialist experience: Students with disabilities and learning needs

Harry is originally from the UK and has been a driving instructor since 2010, teaching in both manual and automatic vehicles. He moved into instruction because he wanted a teaching role that put his driving experience to good use, and he's been doing it ever since.

Harry's approach is calm and tailored. He coaches at the learner's pace, not his own. He's particularly experienced with students who have been turned away by other driving schools, including learners on the autism spectrum and learners with ADHD.

"Driving should be an enjoyable and stress-free experience," Harry says. "Coaching the driver at their own pace, with a tailored and understanding approach, helps to achieve this."
