Driving lesson prices in Christchurch with Enhanced Driving School start at $79 per hour including GST, with package discounts available on request. Prices are current from 1 February 2026.

All lessons run for one hour and include pick-up and drop-off from a location of your choice within our service area.

Standard driving lesson prices

Lessons are normally provided in the driving school car which an automatic car.  It is possible for a student that wishes to use their own manual car, provided that the vehicle is insured.

              Theory test coaching

              $70 per hour. Help preparing for the road code theory test, useful for learners with dyslexia, ADHD, or anyone who finds the question style tricky.

              Defensive Driving Course (DDC)

              Trailer training

              What's included in the price

              Every driving lesson price in Christchurch listed above includes:

              • One hour of one-to-one instruction

              • Lesson handouts and diagrams when needed

              There are no hidden fees, booking fees, or fuel surcharges.

              Package discounts

              Booking multiple lessons in advance? We offer package discounts on blocks of lessons. Contact us with how many lessons you're after and we'll send you a quote.

              Package pricing isn't published online because the discount depends on the number and type of lessons. Most learners save between 5% and 10% off the standard hourly rate when booking a package of 10 or more lessons.

              Paying for lessons

              Payment is by bank transfer or in person at the end of each lesson. We don't take card payments in the car. For package bookings, we'll send an invoice with bank details.

              If you're a Work and Income (WINZ) client and have been approved for driver licence support, we can provide a quote with our supplier number. Get in touch and we'll send everything your case manager needs.

              Test fees

              Driving lesson prices in Christchurch from Enhanced cover your tuition. Test fees are separate and go directly to NZTA via the testing centre (VTNZ or AA). Current test fees are listed on the NZTA website.

              You can sit your restricted or full licence test in our dual-control vehicle. There's no additional vehicle hire fee on top of the pre-test lesson rate.

              1Are driving lesson prices in Christchurch the same for every suburb?
              Yes. Pick-up from Cashmere, Halswell, Hoon Hay, Spreydon, Wigram, and surrounding suburbs is included in the $79 hourly rate.
              2Do you charge for the first 10 minutes of travel?
              No. The hour starts when you get in the car.
              3Is the price for the senior assessment different?
              No. Senior driver assessments are $79 per hour, same as a standard lesson, and include a written report.
              4Can I get a refund if I cancel?
              Cancellations with more than 24 hours' notice are fully refundable. Less than 24 hours, a cancellation fee may apply.
